The Retrofit scheme promotes renovations that significantly reduce primary energy demands. By focusing on key areas such as heating, cooling, ventilation, hot water, and lighting, this scheme empowers entities to enhance their environmental footprint while optimising energy consumption.
Who's Eligible?
Entities eligible for the Retrofit initiative span a wide spectrum, including micro, small, medium, and large enterprises and voluntary organizations compliant with regulatory authorities. This inclusive approach ensures businesses of all sizes and sectors can participate in energy-efficient renovations.
Scope
Retrofit offers cash grants to support eligible projects, with a maximum aid of €5,000,000 per undertaking. These grants facilitate actions that reduce a building's primary energy demand, as measured by an Energy Performance Certificate. Additionally, projects must ensure that at least 70% of non-hazardous construction and demolition waste is prepared for reuse, recycling, or other recovery methods, promoting sustainability throughout the renovation process.
Investment Requirements
To qualify for assistance, investments must remain in place for a specified duration—three years for SMEs and five years for large enterprises. This ensures the long-term impact and sustainability of energy-efficient renovations, maximising the benefits for both businesses and the environment.
Application Deadline
The application deadline is June 30, 2026, providing entities ample time to plan and execute energy-efficient building renovations. Contact KSi Malta for more information and assistance.
